Discussion:
Trusted Alternatives to BitTorrent?

My instance of Bittorrent keeps on updating itself to the latest-and-greatest
version - in spite of my having turned that feature off.

This is causing me excess stomach acid because who knows when somebody will
slip in a version that reports things that nobody who uses Torrents would
want reported?

Bottom Line: Can anybody recommend a trustworthy alternative to BitTorrent?

Looks like Linux.

My bad, should have specified Windows in the OP.

Does anybody have a suggestion for Windows?

Years ago I would have recommended uTorrent but it's become too ad filled.
Try Deluge.

Utorrent is fine, just stick with an older version like 1.8.4 , and turn off
any auto upgrade.

Even up through 2.2.1. Starting with 3.0 uTorrent (the micro symbol
probably wouldn't come through) went downhill fast.

| and turn off any auto upgrade.

Absolutely.

I'm using 3.4.7 with ads suppressed. No problems.
