Does anyone else ever have trouble digging out a program that all logic
says should be available from multiple sources, yet doesn't show up
anywhere?

A case in point: In December, PBS in the US aired a Doc Martin special
titled "Seven Grumpy Years". Now, Doc Martin is a popular program and
it's easy to find any of the seven seasons-worth of episodes. Logically
this special should be as easy (and desirable) to find as any of the
regular episodes.

But when I search ... zip, nada, not a trace. Nor does a Google search
including "filetype:torrent" come up with anything - and that's usually
guaranteed to at least get you a few pay-for-download cons.

If anyone wants to take this as a challenge go right ahead. :-)

Not sure if I'm following you. You mean get a listing of all mvgroup
torrents? There's 49 pages of them (!) Searching for [ grumpy seasons
mvgroup ] won't show any more that simply searching for [ grumpy seasons
] alone (and that's nothing).

Or am I misunderstanding something (highly possible)?

Actually, you can search mvgroup, then choose the order (upload date)
making sure it has the latest date of the first program. Since I
checked for you, it isn't there.

This was a one off pledge drive show, so you probably won't be able to
watch it until another pledge drive. Suggest you call your local PBS
station to see if they have a date for the next time they will show it.

.... unless someone has uploaded it as a torrent of course - which kind
of takes us full circle :-)

If it was originally shown as part of a pledge drive that might explain
the lack of an upload. Does anyone still watch those (pledge drives) any
more?

Only if they can DVR or download them and skip through the pledge breaks.
If there's no torrents, you could try good old usenet!

That's not a bad idea .... it's years since I went that route - I'll
have to Google around and figure out how to do it again. Thanks.

Try http://www.binsearch.info/
Nothing showed up on the search - either "most popular" or "other" -
just like the torrent circuit. Most odd, given the subject matter.

Yes, you are quite right ... mistype on my part - in this posting but
not in my torrent searching .... I checked back through my history and I
have been searching correctly for "seasons".

It seems to me...google is censoring more p2p info now, silently, so you
must often use alternate search engines such as torrenthound, tpb, and kat.
